Yes. Allow yourself to be surprised! Even people who tell themselves ‘it won’t work’ are surprised by the power of suggestion. You will know it has worked when you observe your behaviour changing in a way in which you want. Hypnosis and in particular Rapid Transformational Therapy has worked and continues to work for thousands of people just like you. It is simple, effective and proven.
Of course not. Venetia cannot ‘make’ you do anything you don’t want to do. Volunteers who participate in stage hypnosis are volunteering to do so, and they exaggerate their hypnotised state because they want to be silly! You are coming to Venetia for cognitive behavioural therapy, not a stage act. She will take you seriously and wants nothing more than to empower you and free you of the issues that are holding you back.
Venetia provides a very comfortable and safe environment, in which you are free to share relevant personal history. Venetia will assist you to identify your goals and what it is that you want the most from the session, and you will listen to suggestions of relaxation and follow them if you choose too. You will be able to relax and enjoy positive, guided visualisations and suggestions. You will be able to communicate with Venetia whilst you are under hypnosis. You will always be in control.
You will feel completely relaxed and in a familiar state of being just on the verge of falling asleep. A part of your mind will feel deeply relaxed, while another part will remain alert and will observe the process.
Yes. Regression therapy is an instrumental way to discover the source of an issue. You will not re-experience anything painful; you will simply observe events or experiences you have had in your past (it will be like watching a TV show). What you see may make you sad or joyful, but either way, you will feel completely safe as you observe.
At all times throughout therapy, you will be in full control of your ability to communicate your needs. Your experience of the hypnosis will be monitored closely by Venetia, who will ensure that there is no distress or fear during your session.
No, you will always be in control. As your hypnotherapist, Venetia can only offer suggestions for consideration – you are the one who decides whether to accept these suggestions or not. Even when hypnotised, a part of the human mind acts as an “observer”, which monitors the process to ensure you are in control of your actions. Your mind will not allow you to do anything that is against your values or ethics, or to disclose anything you do not want to talk about. You still have ultimate control.
Fear of hypnosis is usually based on not understanding how it works. Therefore, at the beginning of your session, Venetia will spend some time addressing any questions, fears or concerns you may have. Once you gain this education and explanation, you will feel well-informed, reassured and confident about the process.
Everyone can be hypnotised – as long as they wish to enter hypnosis. Being hypnotised is a relaxing and comforting process.
Absolutely! All clients are assured of confidentiality about any disclosed material, in accordance with professional codes of ethics. Venetia will not contact any other practitioners or doctors without your permission. Venetia destroys inactive files after three years, so that she can assure her clients total confidentiality. None of your personal information will be kept on-site or be accessible in Venetia’s office.
If you come to the session with one issue, chances are you will only require 1-3 sessions. If it turns out that your issue is more complex and actually involves resolving or working through several issues, then you may require further sessions. As your therapist, Venetia will always be clear with you about which issue to tackle first and how long she believes your recovery will take.
*Please note long-term depression and anxiety can take several sessions.
You are in complete control during hypnosis and if you don’t wish to share something, you won’t – no matter how hard anyone tries to get you to say it out loud (which Venetia would never do).
5 years to 105 years – although clients under 18 are on a case by case basis. It’s important to note that no matter what your age is, Venetia’s highest priority is to address your needs (i.e. the client’s needs) in any given session. When it comes to children, these needs often differ from parental priorities.
